Bridges are among the locations that tend to be associated with couples in love. To be fair, they are potent symbols for relationships and what they entail: connecting with a lover, learning to meet halfway with another person, filling in an emotional gap, and any other significance people attribute to these otherwise technical structures. Judging by the amount of padlocks couples are locking on bridges to signify their unbreakable love, it is safe to say bridges are solid choices if you’re looking for the perfect place to declare love to your partner.
We are particularly fond of thinking about bridges in this manner as EastLovesWest is bridging the gap between the East and the West by making love possible across the world. So if you’re looking to declare love to your better half, why not try it on one of these most majestic bridges.
The Helix Bridge
Your love is so deep that you can’t even begin to describe it to your babe? A bridge can. It’s this special Helix Bridge in Marina Bay, Singapore. Shaped like a DNA structure, this brigde is a cheesy but cute way to tell your partner that your love runs bones-deep and then some.
Capilano Suspension Bridge
While decidedly one of the best attraction in Canada, this suspended pedestrian bridge may not be for the faint-hearted. As you can see in the photo above it’s a loose (but reliable) structure of no less than 450 feet (137m) in length, and at an altitude of 250 feet (70m). With the adrenaline rush you’ll get while looking down and around, the Capilano Bridge is one of the best places to show your significant other how much your heart is racing from the joy of sharing the moment too.
The Jiaozhou Bay Bridge
You can travel across this unbelievable bridge in eastern China. If you were going to propose to your partner on a beautiful bridge, get ready for a very long proposal, as crossing this bridge will last you quite a while. The Jiaozhou Bay Bridge is almost 42km long, making it to number 1 in Guiness Book of World Records for being the longest bridge over water.
The largest pedestrian bridge, with a length of 890 feet (270m), Tabiat Bridge is located in Tehran. If you’re traveling to Iran, take your significant other on a walk accross this bridge and enjoy a romantic moment together. The bridge has the best vibe for couples in love, as its designer and builder (Leila Araghian and Alireza Behzadi) are a couple themselves, and we’ve been lucky to find out about their story from a recent post on Humans of New York.
Even if you are not big on romantic gestures, a trip across a bridge may inspire you to confess your love for your significant other. And if your lover is from the other side of the world, the significance of your trip over a bridge is all the more heartwarming.
